The monastery. The students are having their examinations. This is where they loudly yell out questions while slapping their hands and if the young monk gets it wrong they slap the back side of their hand (gleefully I might add) to show they are wrong. Sometimes, as in these pictures, two monks gang up on one. As opposed to the monastery we visited in the "L" city, these exams are indeed real and only take place once a year.
The "L" city ones were fake, just for tourists, so we did not bother taking pictures of those ones. The flags are prayer flags. Pilgrims hang them up as high as possible. Chris took the pictures of the flags as I ran off to be sick...for the next 15 hours...
